What happens when you arrive

A simple first visit flow.

    Arrive at Brook Street

    Use the Brook Street entrance, go upstairs and ring the doorbell. Reception will handle entry discreetly.

    Join at reception

    Membership is required for entry and can be set up when you arrive. Bring valid ID if Challenge 25 may apply.

    Ask what you need

    Tell staff it is your first visit if you want a quick explanation of the venue, rooms, films, shop or shows.

    Use the venue your way

    Choose films, private rooms, the shop, coffee bar or live shows.

    Your visit, your pace

    There is no pressure to take part in anything. Respect and boundaries apply throughout the building.

First visits can be quiet, curious or practical. You can watch films, use private rooms, browse the shop, see live entertainment, have a drink, or simply get familiar with the venue.

Do I need to become a member?

Yes. Membership is required for entry and can be bought on arrival. Annual membership is £6.

Do I need ID?

Empire is strictly 18+. The venue operates Challenge 25, so bring valid photo ID if you look under 25.

Can I visit alone?

Yes. Solo visits are normal, and you can use the venue at your own pace.

The address is 80 John William Street, Huddersfield, HD1 5AA. The entrance is directly on Brook Street; go up the stairs and ring the doorbell.
